Pauline Gately

Managing Director, Portfolio Strategy and Research

Based in Australia, Pauline Gately previously served as head of investment strategy for Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank in the Asia Pacific Region. She spent nearly 20 years forecasting investment prospects and formulating asset allocation across nine East Asian countries, from South Korea in the North to Indonesia in South.

Now based in Perth, Gately lived in Hong Kong from 1986 to 2000. For several years, she earned Asiamoney poll ranking among the top 10 investment strategists in the Asia Pacific Region.

During her tenure in Asia, she led seminars on Asian economics and investment strategy for institutions such as the Investment Arm of the Government of Singapore and World Economic Congress, and wrote a regular column for the South China Morning Post. More recently, she has served as a technical advisor to the Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China.

A native of Scotland, she earned an undergraduate degree in economics from Strathclyde University and a postgraduate diploma in accounting from Glasgow University.
